Hello, Robin ... Oh, yes, yes, yes! to the sidebar! I love what I call the "New York Times" 3-column format and I'm having trouble finding it for Joomla! ... but I'm just getting started in blogging so that might have something to do with it, too. I got here through Barrie North. And your comment box! I have this mental list: (1) dofollow! (2) html! (3) smilies! (4) captcha! (5) check subscribe to comment! (6) enable reply to comment (7) enable avatars in comment ... The Magnificent Seven! ... and I had just about given up hope! ... until I saw yours! ... it's got most of them! Will it print the date with comments? I've noticed on Barrie's blog that dates that things got posted seem to be absent. I'm absolutely delighted with the basic html and smilies ... can this comment box take a substantial amount of text and survive? So that people could actually leave a "robust" comment if they wanted to? Also, will it enable the visitor to create anchor text with "a href" as well as type in a naked url? Can a little checkbox be added down at the bottom so people can have email notifications sent to them if anybody else responds to this particular thread? Or is that essentially what the "Subscribe to this comment's feed" does? If so, that's pretty clever! (But I've never subscribed to any RSS before, so I'm going to start with this one and see what happens ... eeek! it's jibberish! what am I supposed to do with that code!) Can a "reply to reply" capability be added? So that, when you reply to somebody's comment, your reply gets published with their comment, instead of way down at the bottom of the pile of all the comments? Can avatars be added to comments? Like with MyAvatars in WordPress? That works with MyBlogLog to enable avatars in comments? •••> Can you explain that "trackback" thing up there? Or recommend where I can go to get more info? I've heard that trackback is one of few the things Joomla! doesn't do, but you seem to be doing it so I don't know what to think. •••> Can one put a "U COMMENT I FOLLOW" logo up there so that people will know, if they comment here, they will get a link back to their site? What I would particularly like is the 5-star variety, like they have over at AssociatedContent, where you rate an article 1-5 depending on how well you liked it. I've seen "thumbs up, thumbs down" systems on comments here and there on the "blogosphere", but I haven't seen anybody using a 5-star system, and I really prefer it. Anyway, nice job on your sidebar! Woaw, what a long comment, I am impressed :) The commenting system is a component called Jom Comment. I didn't created it myself, you can get it from here: http://www.azrul.com/product/joomla_comment_system.html Only the author gets a notification E-mail in this version of Jom Comment. You can create a url in your comment like http://robin.mulkers.net Yeah, you are right, subscribe to this comment is the way you can get notified, you must then have an RSS reader installed on your system. If your blogging system supports trackback pings, you can just reference this trackback url in your blog and I will see your blog entry as a comment to mine in the trackback section. Jom Comment is pretty cool but it lacks certain features as you mention. I think if you contact its author, he might do it for you. Some of the features you are searching for might be already implemented in a commercial, more recent version of that product. - Robin Mulkers

I don't know, but maybe joomla is coming obsolete nowadays. I've stop using them since 2007 and got no idea if they are upgrading their system/plugins/etc or not. :D - FTLwpress
