We had a Devoxx steering meeting yesterday, Stephan is in great shape.

He did together with Jo a new Call For Paper application which is now used to manage the speakers wishlist and submitted topics. The call for paper will end very early this year, June 15th being the deadline. So hurry up if you're willing to present something at Devoxx this year.

We've a new steering member: Steven Noels, I know Steven since a long time. I'm happy that he joined us. He will lead the new Cloud/NoSQL track which looks very promising.

More info about this in the next newsletters.

Guy Crets and me will care of an integrated track related to Architecture, Security including SOA and BPM topics. At this moment the track is empty, any volunteer?

We're desperately looking for good Security speakers.

Jimmy Wales, the founder of wikipedia, is asking for donations.
As the internet grows, more and more people are using at Wikipedia (including my childrens).
It's also remarkable that Wikipedia is still free, it's a symbol of the internet.

My wife asked me to clean up my mess in our home office.

Then I found back this Javapolis 2004 invitation...
The twisted spoons one Tongue out.

That was the good time. Devoxx today is not really the same anymore.
More professional, more thinking about the costs, the risks, etc.

I'm really missing something from the good old days of Javapolis.

I think I have the nostalgia of Javapolis Undecided.

Is it still fun? Is it still worth it? What's your own feeling?

Very nice post about the Dark Side of Enterprise 2.0 from Kathleen Culver.

It's very provocative. I like that kind of stuff. It contains an incredible list of references to research papers and books.

But some of the arguments do not specifically apply to Web 2.0 but to the more and more digitalization of our lifestyle and the fact that we use now more and more networks to communicate.
When I see my 12 years-old daughter and how she's addicted to her computer, I also have the impression that we could do a similar Dark Side of Social Life 2.0 blog entry Undecided

Pierre Bonnet had accepted to speak at Devoxx but has just cancelled for personal reasons Undecided.
Not to say that the programs are printed already.
I think he's missing a great opportunity. I don't think I'll find the motivation to invite him again next year.
