This is not a blog! Why I created this website?
Image    I have always been keen to use the internet to communicate. My last attempt was a blog on IT Toolbox.com called "Beyond the Hype of Composite Applications" which has gained some momentum in the SOA community.

I was feeling limited by this blog because it was not rich enough for me, I wanted to post pictures and videos but that wasn't possible.
I was also feeling constrained to blog about IT related stuff exclusively and I wanted to do posts on more personal topics as well.

For all those reasons, I decided to invest some of my time to create this personal Website which is not really a usual Website, not a Wiki, not a blog, just the combination of all that. I decide to call it a Web Spot.
A Spot means also a good place where you can do Windsurfing  Wink

So, here is the result, I hope you like it. This website is personalized/access-controlled. If you register, I will attach you to a security group giving you access to more stuff than just what you see as guest.

I was searching for an alternative allowing me to do all of that and decided to go for a personal website at the end of 2006.

My requirements for this website were:

  • nice look and feel
  • inexpensive hosting
  • access control to more private areas for sharing pictures and music with my family and friends
  • public blog with RSS feeds supporting various categories
  • multi-lingual (French for my family and friends), English for the IT related blogs
  • possibility to send newsletters
  • good Google ranking
  • support for comments on the different items
This site is doing all of that, have fun with it! Cool
